Your Ideal Career
IntroductionWe
have spent some time this semester thinking about what we would like to
do for a career. Early on we printed a few jobs from Oregon CIS, and
we thought about what type of careers matched up well with our skills.
Now we are going to take the next step in the process by actually
researching a career. At this point I hope that you have a few careers
in mind, but if you have yet to come to a decision, then the time is
now. One of the expectations for your final project is to discuss your
career choices. Step One -Log into DDHS PagesYou
will be creating a web page based on your ideal career. In order to
create this web page you will need to log into your account. Here are
the steps for logging into DDHS Pages and creating a new web page. - Hold down the control key and click on this LINK
- Click on "Open Link In New Tab"
- Now you have created a new tab with the DDHS Pages log in screen
- Enter your username and password (User=Grad Year+Last Name+ First Name / Password= Student ID)
- Example 93kellergreg
- Once you have logged in you will be creating a new web page by clicking on this button
- You will want to create a new "web page"
- Name your page "My Ideal Career" and put it on the "top level"
- Now you will need the information for your ideal career, so please start working on step two below.
Step Two -Finding your careerYou
will be logging into Oregon CIS today in order to find a career. This
is something that you have done several times this semester, but here
are the steps. - Hold down the control key and click on this LINK
- Click on "Open Link In New Tab"
- Now you have created a new tab with the Oregon CIS log in screen
- You will log in using the following information. Username: ddouglas Password:ddhs
- Now that you are logged in to Oregon CIS you will need to select an occupation using the "Occupation" Section
- Once
you are in the occupations section you will need to find a career that
you are interested in. The careers are all listed in alphabetical
order.
- Once you have selected a career you are ready for step three
Step Three -Finding and informationNow
that you have picked a career to research, you will be gathering some
information about the job. In addition you will be answering some
questions, and all of the information will be put on your "My Ideal
Career" web page. You will be using the following sections from your
career to do the research: Overview, Specific Work Activities, Working
Conditions, Skills & Abilities, Helpful high school courses, Wages,
and Resources. - You will create a section on your "My Ideal
Career" web page for all of the following categories. Overview,
Specific Work Activities, Working Conditions, Skills &
Abilities, Helpful high school courses, Wages, and Resources.
- You will be using copy and paste for some of the information, but you will not be copying the entire page.
